Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow are both painful conditions that arise when the tendons in your elbow undergo excessive strain, typically due to repetitive motions of the wrist and arm.

Despite their names, these conditions can affect individuals beyond just athletes. People in various occupations that involve repetitive motions are also susceptible to developing tennis or golfer's elbow. Such professions include plumbers, painters, musicians, typists, carpenters, and butchers.

The primary source of pain is located where the tendons of your forearm muscles attach to a bony bump on the outside or inside of your elbow. The pain can radiate into the forearm and wrist, causing discomfort and limited mobility.

The symptoms of tennis or golfer's elbow can disrupt everyday activities, making simple tasks challenging. Shake hands or gripping objects, turning doorknobs, and holding a coffee cup can all become difficult and painful. Even opening jars can be a challenging task.

To expedite recovery and alleviate the discomfort associated with tennis or golfer's elbow, there are several effective treatment options available. In my practice, I often employ a combination of distal and local acupuncture, Twi-na therapeutic massage, kinesio taping, and moxibustion.

Distal acupuncture targets specific acupuncture points away from the affected area to stimulate the body's natural healing response and promote pain relief. Local acupuncture focuses on the site of injury or pain, providing targeted treatment to the affected tendons and surrounding tissues.

Twi-na therapeutic massage techniques can help alleviate muscle tension, improve blood flow, and promote healing in the affected area. kinesio taping is another effective approach that involves applying specialized elastic tape to provide support and stability to the elbow joint, reducing pain and promoting proper movement.

Additionally, moxibustion, a traditional Chinese medicine therapy, utilizes the heat generated by burning a herb called mugwort to stimulate circulation and relieve pain.

By employing these treatment modalities, we aim to accelerate your recovery from tennis or golf elbow, reduce pain, restore functionality, and improve your overall well-being. A personalized treatment plan will be tailored to your specific needs, and additional recommendations such as exercise modifications and ergonomic adjustments may also be provided.

Our goal is to help you regain pain-free mobility and get back to the activities you enjoy without limitations.
